Take this free sonography tech practice test to get an idea of what is on the SPI (Sonography Principles and Instrumentation) certification exam.The SPI exam tests the requisite physical principles and instrumentation knowledge, skills and abilities essential to sonography technicians and students. It is the first step to earning your ARDMS credentials. To earn an RDMS, RDCS, RVT and RMSKS credentials, you must pass the ARDMS SPI exam and a corresponding specialty examination within five years.
The actual exam tests your knowledge, skills and abilities in the areas of clinical safety, physical principles, pulsed echo instrumentation, and quality assurance with a total of 110 multiple-choice and Semi-interactive Console (SIC) questions. The total time of the test is two hours.
