Oregon Electrician Exam
Need of a License: Master and journeyman electricians need a license to work in Oregon.
Who Grants a License: Electrician licenses are granted by the Oregon Construction Contractors Board.
Qualifications Needed to Receive a License
Master Electrician: A candidate must currently be licensed as an Oregon journeyman electrician (or meet the qualifications to be licensed as an Oregon journeyman electrician) and have 8,000 hours of on-the-job journeyman experience.
Journeyman Electrician: A candidate must have at least four years’ experience as an apprentice general electrician or equivalent.
Exam Requirements: A candidate for a master electrician license or a journeyman electrician license must pass the Master Electrician Examination or the Journeyman Electrician Examination, respectively.

Test Content
Master Electrician Exam - The electrical contractor exam consists of 64 questions with a time limit of 4 hours. A candidate needs at least a 75% grade to pass.

- Calculations
Journeyman Electrician Exam - The journeyman exam consists of 52 questions with a time limit of 3 hours. A candidate needs at least a 75% grade to pass.

Fees: There is an examination fee.
Who Administers the Test: Oregon State Licensing Board
License Renewal Requirements: Licenses must be renewed every three years. A renewal notice will be mailed to the licensee approximately six weeks prior to the expiration of their license.
