The stages of attachment theory explained by psychologist John Bowlby relate to four significant stages. These stages include pre-attachment, indiscriminate, discriminate, and multiple attachments that allow for an individual to grow and deepen through their relationships with themselves and others. These four stages happen in developmental sequence and happen at any age in relationship to self and caregivers.
