SIADH or Diabetic Insipidus (DI)
SIADH can develop after craniotomy. The posterior lobe of the pituitary gland, which is regulated by the hypothalamus, release ADH. In SIADH, increased release of ADH causes fluid retention. The fluid retention causes the patient to have a low urinary output, low serum osmolality, low serum level of sodium, high specific gravity of urine, and high sodium level of urine.
