Academic Tests

Nebraska Student Assessment (NeSA) - Nebraska students take the NeSA tests in reading and math every year from third grade through middle school, and again in their junior year of high school. All students also take a writing assessment in fourth and eighth grade and a science assessment is under development.

Nebraska Abstractors Tests and Licensing - Certified abstractors in Nebraska take a licensing exam administered by the Abstractors boards of examiners. It has four sections: General Knowledge, County Court, District Court and Legal Descriptions. The exam is given in May and October. Applicants must have a year of experience to take the test.

Nebraska Pesticide Appliator Tests and Licensing - A commercial pesticides applicator has to pass both a general standards exam and a category specific exam. The former assesses an applicant's knowledge of general pesticide application principles, while the latter assesses an applicant's knowledge of a specific type of application. All applicants must score 70 percent or better on both exams.

Nebraska Barbers Tests and Licensing - Barbers have to take an exam given by the Nebraska Board of Barber Examiners. They must also graduate from an approved barbering school. The exam covers barber equipment, laws, shop management, ethics, sanitation, procedures and similar topics. All applicants must pay the Board $190 in order to take the exam.

Nebraska Electrican Contractors Exams and Licensure - Electrical Contractors and Journeyman Electricians both have to take the State Electrical Board's licensing exam. The test is based on the 2008 National Electrical Code. Contractors must pay $250 and Journeymen must pay $50 to take the exam. A training session is conducted before each exam.

Driver's Tests

Nebraska Driving Tests - New drivers in Nebraska are required to pass a vision test, a written exam and a drive test to receive a full license. The written exam is waived for applicants who hold a learner's permit. Teens are issued a provisional license. New Nebraska residents must pass a vision screening.

Nebraska Motorcycle Tests - Applicants for a motorcycle license in Nebraska have to pass a multiple choice knowledge test and an on-cycle skills test. The knowledge test is based on questions from the motorcycle manual.

Nebraska Commerical DrivingTests - Nebraska requires CDL applicants to pass three tests. The vision and knowledge exams must be passed before an applicant can take the CDL skills test. The latter is given by a state-approved third party tester.
